Imagine it is 1890 - Vincent Van Gogh has either ended his own life or it has been ended for him by someone else *(I think there are still some questions about this) and all of his paintings have been sent to his brother - who unfortunately dies soon after - what would you give to have a chance at purchasing his paintings at that point in time at the low prices that might have been charged at that time?
after a life of only 37 years he had a large body of work all of which are valued a great deal more than they would ever be paid for originally and yet the artists of today except for a few with some marketing genius behind them - are all selling or not selling for a pittance compared to what they might be selling for later on down the line a few years from now -
does it make sense not to invest in such work today ?

You know - I think - that I am an artist and that as far as I can see - the value that I give to the viewers....................

here is a story - about right outside the front door (approximately) living in New York City 20 minutes outside of Manhattan - there are many museums here that I have often frequented - in 1976 when I was just beginning with my photography business I had secured a client (Ted Lapidus) a French Clothing Store at the corner of 5th Avenue and 53rd Street - first by speaking with the window designer and asking if she needed photographs of her displays - then she showed my work that I had done for her to the President of the company who needed photograph of his store front for the annual report of the company that owned the store at the time in Paris - after I did that assignment the President asked me if I could do fashion - (which was my dream at that point to do) and I said honestly that I had not done any fashion at that point in time but that I would do some and show him - he said good - do some and show me -which I did and then he said well what do the models look like with my clothes on them - *(which means that he was giving me permission to take his clothes and put them on my models and photograph them and so I did:...........................

the most difficult issue to deal with as an artist is not that it may be difficult to sell the work that you have spent time and money creating but that if your art does for some reason (whatever that may be) increase in its value - then what the tax laws - what the intentions of the purchasers are (whether they are collectors or investors) and what country the art is in and that you as an artist is in all might effective the purchaser of your work -................................

Back in the very early 1980's after having worked at both ABC (American Broadcasting Companies) Record Division and the Motion Picture Division I was ambitiously motivated to create my very own network and then grow from what I knew was the American Broadcasting Companies, Inc. was - I created first World Broadcasting Companies, Inc. but when I went to register this name with the State of New York my application was rejected mainly because there was a World Communications Company registered in California and the name was too close so before my application fee had run out I quickly looked up in an Armenian -English Dictionary (I am of Armenian descent) and discovered that Volord which means world or Universal was the closest name I could come up with that would most likely be accepted and that no-one in their right mind would use this name - so I registered that name for my very own Broadcasting Companies - ...............................

Many years ago - when I was around 7 years old - pretty much at the same time that I started playing the violin and a little before I started taking photographs my dad took me to the local free-standing Carvel Ice Cream store which had in front of the store - a red Coca Cola Machine - and he purchased a Coke for me and thereby introduced me to my still very favorite drink - ...............

Well basically you could say that I wasn't happy with the way a particular photograph that one of my friends took portrayed me and leave it at that - but to be honest the photograph which was a black and white taken on a rainy night with a flash - was not really all that bad except - and this was the important point - it made my hair - which was still completely all pitch black at this time in 1992 - as if it was grey because of the way that black and white photograph show the lights from a flash on wet hair at night - and someone who had seen the photograph made such a comment that they did not realize that I had turned grey - ..................
